Watch this FREE educational webinar for a unique opportunity to hear from experts in San Diego about their partnership to provide state-approved domestic violence services for Veterans overseen by treatment courts.

*Date: January 29, 2019, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time

Presenters:

  • Joy Villavicencio, LCSW, VA San Diego Healthcare System, Veterans Court Liaison
  • Karen Schoenfeld, PhD, Director, San Diego Vet Center
  • Marilyn Cornell, LMFT, Clinical Director, Veterans Village of San Diego

Overview:
Created out of the need to provide culturally competent treatment for Combat Veterans who have been convicted of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), the Family Recovery Program (FRP) teaches participants the skills necessary to provide physical and emotional safety of their loved ones. This 52 week program is based on David Wexler’s STOP Domestic Violence designed to cover California DV state-mandated curriculum topics and additional treatment to specifically address the unique needs of Veterans with trauma exposure and other military related behavioral issues. The San Diego Vet Center has successfully provided this treatment to Veterans since its first group in 2012.  This valuable resource enables Veterans Treatment Courts to accept those convicted of IPV offenses, many of whom were previously ineligible for relief pursuant to 1170.9 of the California Penal Code.
